"The paintings and drawings of the past years show a shift away from the intimate scale of the fish series, together with an increasing emphasis upon the two-dimentional structure of the work. There is still a strong expressive handling of the materials, which now include collage and graphite, and identifiable images are still present, but the surface is looser, more open, and the subject matter more general, more neutral."
