Winter Workshops

Reassessing your Study Skills

Learning how to adjust your study methods to different learning environments is an extremely important academic skill. This workshop will focus on assessing your current study strategies, learning from your mistakes, and recognizing alternative approaches in order to adapt to the demands of different courses.

Dates:

February 1 (1:30-2:30 p.m. in 108 Drake)

February 12 (2:30-3:30 p.m. in 303 Tier)

February 15 (11:30-12:30 p.m. in 108 Drake)

Preparing for Exams and Taking Tests

Many students resort to the final exam cram. This workshop will focus on organizing your time and applying exam preparation strategies. The workshop will also present specific strategies that can be used while taking both multiple choice and long answer tests.

April 4 (1:00-2:00 p.m. in 258 Saint Paul's)

April 5 (12:30-1:30 p.m. in 258 Saint Paul's)

The Academic Learning Centre (ALC) presents free workshops at various times throughout the year. Study skills and writing support can be accessed at any time by clicking on  "links" or "handouts" on the left menu. You can also visit the Virtual Learning Commons (log in using your UMid and password) for useful tips and strategies on writing and studying. Alternatively, if you would like to learn about any of the workshop topics, please feel free to set up an individual appointment with a tutor at the ALC.
