There are a number of different application methods for students applying to the University of Manitoba directly from high school or as a high school graduate:
Advanced Early Admission – December 3, 2012
Dental Hygiene, Fine Arts, Kinesiology, and General Studies do not have an Advanced Early Admission option.
Definition: A provisional acceptance based on strong Manitoba Grade 11 results (or the equivalent from other Canadian provinces), pending confirmation that all graduation and course requirements for Final Admission are met by June 30, 2013. Open to current Canadian high school students applying for admission for September 2013.
Requirements: General: Five Grade 11 credits designated S or G are required, with at least three at the S level. Specific: Any specific courses, minimum marks, averages or other requirements as listed below for the program.
Application Deadline: December 3, 2012
Document Deadline: Official Grade 11 mark statement - December 10, 2012. Final Grade 12 mark statement with proof of graduation: July 5, 2013*.
To qualify for this admission, you must:
- Apply for admission by December 3, 2012
- Forward an official high school mark statement of all subjects and marks for Grade 11 by December 7, 2012
- Provide final Grade 12 mark statement with proof of graduation by July 5, 2013*
- Meet the following admissions requirements:
Admission to University 1 or Music
Admission to Agricultural & Food Sciences
- General Entrance Requirements, plus:
- English 30S (minimum 80%)
- A minimum average of 80% over three 30S courses
- General Entrance Requirements, plus a minimum 85% average over the following, with no less than 60% in each course:
- English 30S, one of Pre-Calculus Mathematics 30S or Applied 30S, and one of Chemistry 30S, Physics 30S, Biology 30S or Computer Science 30S
Admission to Agriculture (Diploma Program)
- General Requirements, plus successful completion of the following courses:
English 30S, Mathematics 30 or 35SAdmission to Arts
- General Requirements, plus a minimum 85% average over the following, with no less than 60% on each course. English 30S, and two additional 30S courses.
Admission to Business
- General Requirements, plus a minimum 85% average over the following, with no less than 60% in each course:
- English 30S, one of Pre-Calculus Mathematics or Applied Mathematics 30S, and a third 30S course
Admission to Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources
- General Requirements, plus a minimum 85% average over the following, with no less than 60% in each course. English 30s, one of Pre-Calculus Mathematics 30S or Applied Mathematics 30S, and one of: Social Studies 30S (Agriculture, Canadian History, Physical Geography), Biology 30S, Chemistry 30S, Physics 30S or another acceptable 30S course.
Admission to Engineering
- General Requirements, plus a minimum 85% average over the following, with no less than 60% in each course:
- Pre-Calculus Mathematics 30S, Chemistry 30S, and Physics 30S
Admission to Human Ecology
- General Requirements, plus a minimum 85% average over the following, with no less than 60% in each course:
- English 30S, one of Chemistry 30S, Biology 30S, or a Mathematics 30S, and a third 30S course
Admission to Science
- General Requirements, plus a minimum 85% average over the following, with no less than 60% in each course:
- English 30S, one of Pre-Calculus Mathematics 30S (recommended) or Applied Mathematics 30S, and one of Biology 30S, Chemistry 30S, Computer Science 30S, or Physics 30S
Early Admission - February 22, 2013
General Studies does not have an Early Admission Option.
Definition: A provisional admission based on mid-term Manitoba Grade 12 marks (or the equivalent from other Canadian provinces or other countries), pending confirmation that all graduation and course requirements for Final Admission are met by June 30, 2013. Open to current high school students applying for admission for September 2013.
Requirements: General & Specific Requirements: Interm or final Grade 12 marks that indicate candidate should be able to meet all of the General Requirements and Specific Requirements for Final Admisssion.
Application Deadline: February 22, 2013 (Music deadline January 15, 2013)
Document Deadline: Interm Grade 12 results - April 16, 2013*. Final Grade 12 mark statement with proof of graduation: July 5, 2013.
Note: The final application for deadline for Fine Arts programs is March 15, 2013. A portfolio with a supporting written statement is required of every applicant, with this material to be submitted in early March to the School of Art. Grade 12 Art is recommended.
Final Admission - Deadline dependent on program
Definition: A clear admission based upon final Manitoba Grade 12 results or the equivalent from other provinces or countries. Open to all current and former Grade 12 students.
Requirements: General Requirements: Unless otherwise indicated, each program requires Manitoba high school graduation, with five full credits at the Grade 12 level, in courses disignated S (specialized), G (General), or U (Dual Credit - University, with a minimum of three of these credits in S or U courses. Specific Requirements: Candidates must meet the specific requirements, minimum grades, average or other requirements as listed below for the program. Should demand exceed availible positions, higher averages may be required to be competitive.
Application Deadline: May 1, 2013 (January 15, 2013 for Music)
Note: May 1, 2013 is the recommended deadline for University 1 and General Studies. August 15, 2013 is the final deadline.
Document Deadline: Final Grade 12 mark statement with proof of graduation: July 5, 2013*.
Note: Regardless of application category, all applicants to Music must successfully complete an audition and theory assessment; applicants to Fine Arts must have their portfolios accepted by the selection committee.
*If you are a current Manitoba high school student, and apply for admission by the application deadlines listed above, your school will submit your interm Grade 12 marks (for Early Admission) and final grade 12 marks on your behalf. All other applicants are responsible for arranging to have official mark statements, including proof of graduation with your final grades, sent to the Admissions Office by the documentation deadline given above.
