Respiratory Therapy is a professional degree program that provides students with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to excel in the profession. Respiratory therapists are health care professionals who work collaboratively with other members of the health care team to diagnose and treat people with breathing problems. This exciting and rapidly expanding profession has demonstrated continuing employment growth over the past 10 years. This academic option is well suited for individuals who have a desire to make a significant difference in people's lives while being an integral part of a dynamic health care team!

The BMR (RT) program provides extensive didactic and clinical experience to prepare graduates with the knowledge and experience to make sound judgments and to examine issues critically, rationally and coherently. BMR (RT) graduates will be exposed to most areas of practice resulting in versatile professionals with many options.

Advanced entry option
24 credit hours in U1 (or approved bachelors program)
This entry option is open to students who have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours of university level study. Specific program requirements will vary; details of these requirements are available on each program's application page.
High school prerequisites
High School Prerequisites: Any Math 40S; if taking BIOL 1020, then Biology 40S and either Chemistry 40S or Physics 40S is required. Biology 40S, Chemistry 40S, English 40S, and Physics 30S and/or 40S are recommended.
Many programs will require or recommend specific high school courses over and above their admission requirements. These high school prerequisites are not always required to enter the program, but they must be completed to enrol in certain university courses within it. If a student does not have a particular prerequisite when they enter the program, they may complete an equivalent upgrading course at university that will satisfy the prerequisite requirement.
