Understanding the experiences that the University of Manitoba can offer you often takes more than an information session or presentation. We offer a number of different options for anyone interested in experiencing our university. Most of these opportunities are offered on our Fort Garry campus, the home of majority of our programs and all of the direct entry programs. Students interested in seeing more of our Bannatyne campus, the home to most of our medical related programs, should contact their specific program of interest for more details on the opportunities open to them.
We offer a number of different options for you to explore our campus including:
Student Recruitment provides prospective students with a campus tour as specific to their interests as possible. Most of these tours are approximately one hour in length, though it may vary according to specific tour requests and tour guide availability. Larger group tour complete with an information session and a campus tour are also available. Residence tours are available as a part your campus tour or on their own.
Please contact us to schedule your campus tour well in advance of your arrival. Our accommodations page lists information on local hotels and bed & breakfasts, some of which will offer discounts to U of M tour participants.

Events are set up throughout the year to give students the opportunity to experience the campus. Some, like Info Days and Evening of Excellence, are large scale, university wide events designed to allow students to experience a little of everything. In addition, many other smaller events are offered throughout the year that target more specific aspects of our campuses or specific audiences. These events are listed locally on the program website or in the university news feed, but check out our Explore page for updates as well.
Orientation
Students who have been accepted to the University of Manitoba can take advantage of a number of different Orientation events throughout the summer.
New students, as well as their family and friends, can attend Head Start in early June. Head Start is an annual, one-day event featuring information sessions and campus tours. Students will receive information about transitioning to university life, while family and friends will learn more about the university and how to support new students as they begin their university studies.
Incoming U of M students can also attend a Summer Tour any Friday during the months of July and August. For more information, contact the Office of Student Life at (204) 474-9093 or visit the Orientation website.
Orientation sessions are offered through many different campus departments for incoming students. Sometimes they are specific to a program (e.g. a session for incoming students to Agriculture), while at other times they are designed for a particular type of student that may be taking classes in any of our academic programs (e.g. international students). The university also offers a large-scale first-year Orientation for incoming new students each fall. Once you have been accepted, watch for orientation notices for your specific program and check out the Orientation website for the audience specific orientations that may be available to you.
