Faculty of Arts: Department of Native Studies
What is it?
- An academic department within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba.
Who is eligible?
- Three-year Major and Minors in Native Studies, three-year Minor in Native Languages, and a four-year Advanced Major in Native Studies are available to all Faculty of Arts students.
- A Masters program in interdisciplinary Native Studies is currently being offered for students with four years of academic study.
- Courses are available as electives for any registered student at the University of Manitoba
What Services are Provided?
- The Native Studies Department is committed to holistic teaching and research that portrays the evolving story of the First Peoples (Indians, Métis, and Inuit). Our unique position between two world views and our sensitivity to Aboriginal perspectives reflect the nature of our extraordinary mandate. We foster wide understanding of Aboriginal issues in the University and beyond.
