For most, attending University is all about changing, and this includes much more than a slight shift in academic strategies and habits alone. Making the transition can mean living on your own for the first time, and establishing a lifestyle that suits you! This presentation is meant to lay out four of the major areas that new students should focus on when they begin their careers as students at the University of Manitoba.
Most Faculties here at the University of Manitoba will be hosting their own session for the students that will be joining them via Direct Entry in the Fall. There will also be sessions offered for students who are beginning University 1. The List of Faculties that will be presenting are as follows:
Just like in all other educational institutions, students that attend the University of Manitoba are expected to avoid any forms of academic dishonesty and/or plagiarism. This sessions provides you with information on what to avoid doing, and what will happen if a student is found guilty of academic dishonesty/plagiarism.
This presentation will cover different tips and practices that will help you to achieve academic success throughout your time in university. The information that students will be provided with at this presentation will prepare them for university-level assignments, midterms, and exams, including other academic curve balls that students may not be prepared for otherwise.
Orientation is all about getting students used to our campus, and all that the U of M has to offer. This is why we offer a campus tour to all new students attending Fall Orientation. On the tour, students will have to opportunity to view the campus through the lens of an upper year student, and be provided with information such as favorite study spots, the quickest route to certain buildings when you're rushed for time, and other tips that can only be learned through experience and time spent on campus.
