If you plan on attending convocation, you must reserve your gown online. Please refer to the 3 e-mails sent to your umanitoba account for complete information. The website to tell us you will be attending and to reserve your gown will be open April 9 – May 15, 2013 If you have further questions after you read all the instructions, please feel free to contact us at graduation_convocation@umanitoba.ca or by calling 204-480-1088 or 204-474-6018. Please include your student number and full name in all communications. |
Academic attire consisting of a gown, mortarboard (the flat hat) and, where appropriate, a hood, is required for all graduands who wish to participate in Convocation. The mortarboard and tassel will be yours to keep as a memento of your Convocation.
Gaspard is the supplier of the University of Manitoba academic regalia. You will reserve your gown directly through the Gaspard website (the link is available in the e-mail that you received from Graduation_Convocation). Fees for your academic attire are paid for by the University of Manitoba.
For those who wish to purchase their own academic regalia, please contact Mary at Gaspard for assistance (ph: 204-949-5730 or 888-949-5730; e-mail: mary@gaspard.ca).
Please refer to the e-mails that you received from Graduation_Convocation for detailed information, timelines and the link to Gaspard for reserving your gown/confirming your attendance.
If you miss the date for on-line registration, you may still participate in Convocation. Gaspard does bring a limited number of extra gowns, hoods, and mortarboards. If you find yourself in this position, do plan on arriving at the Max Bell Centre Field House early to arrange your participation. Extra gowns and hoods are available on a first-come-first-served basis. You will not receive your parchment at the ceremony, but will receive a congratulatory paper; your actual parchment will be mailed to you approximately 2 weeks after Convocation.
You will pick up our attire from the Gaspard table in Max Bell. As IGAC can be quite warm, we suggest that you wear light‐weight clothing. We also suggest that you wear comfortable shoes for the ceremony as you will be standing for extended periods. Should you discover that you need a full-fit gown or extra large cap, go to the Gaspard table for assistance. If you are concerned about keeping your cap in place (horizontally on the top of your head, not vertically on the back), bring hair pins to help hold your cap securely.
