Services Provided

STUDENTS

• assist individual students who have been referred to Student Advocacy regarding all student related matters
• assistance to students can take the form of:
• providing information on policies/rules
• seeking out information regarding the process, the issues
• obtaining documentation to support student’s request
• setting up and attending meetings with students
• all forms of communications
• assisting with formal appeals
• representing students at the appeal hearings

 

STAFF

• consultations regarding process/practices
• consultations regarding the management and process involving an individual student
• provide information regarding alternative dispute resolution and formal appeals processes
• assist with training of appeal committees (members and chairs)
• customized workshops for students and staff (all members of U of M community) on a variety of student related topics
• feature projects, e.g., Academic Integrity Week
• collect and circulate resources on contemporary student issues
• template letter of appeal/template the appeal decision letter
• provide further referrals to other Student Support Services and/or Faculty and Staff Resource Services
