Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies gives U of M students an opportunity to support children from the Winnipeg School Division 1, as they develop their literacy skills and appreciation for reading. Participating students will be placed in a Winnipeg School Division 1 school for the academic term, and will work one-on-one with a young student at least once per week.

Although literacy is the focus of the program, there are also opportunities for university students who have a passion for arithmetic and sciences to work in the classroom!

Drop-in information sessions will be held on: September 13th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and September 14th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (202 Helen Glass)

Costs: The program is free. There may be additional costs for optional activities. Participants are responsible for the cost of obtaining a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
Application deadline: TBA

Please note: Reading Buddies is a volunteer program facilitated by Winnipeg School Division 1. As such, the application and training process is externally facilitated.
