Training & Debrief
3 hours per week from January 8 – March 11, 2018 (exact times to be determined)
 
Program Cost: $3200 (all-inclusive)
Program cost includes round-trip airfare, food, accommodation, transportation, program activities, travel insurance, and comprehensive pre-departure training.

Note: Travel bursaries of up to $1000 are available for students who demonstrate financial need.
 
Program Description
 
This February, travel to the heart of the Amazon Rainforest to support the Amupakin women’s collective as they apply Indigenous Kichwa knowledge and perspectives to increase climate-change resilience and economic sustainability for their communities.

Under the joint guidance of German International Cooperation (GIZ) and Amupakin, you will help adapt Amupakin’s medicinal chakras (small community farms) to become more resilient to current environmental challenges in the Amazon rainforest.

Other things to expect: rainforest hikes, boat rides in the Amazon river, piraña fishing, chocolate making and many other adventures.

Open to students, staff, and faculty. Student participants who successfuly complete the program are eligible for recognition on their Co-Curricular Record (CCR).
