Chair: Dr. Chris Chinien

Dr. Chinien holds
his undergraduate degree from McGill University, a Masters degree from
the University of Alberta and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Training
and Development from Ohio State University.
Dr. Chinien has
several years of industrial experience. He has also been an educator
of adults in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training
for the past thirty years. Dr. Chinien has taught in various settings,
including secondary vocational schools, community colleges and universities.
He is currently a professor in the Faculty of Education, University
of Manitoba. His responsibilities include teaching graduate courses
in Adult, Technical and Vocational Education. He is the Director of
the Faculty of Education graduate program in Adult Education as well
as the Director of UNEVOC-Canada, the Canadian Center for UNESCOs
International Project in Technical and Vocational Education.
Dr. Chiniens
research interest is focused on adult education, cognitive based teaching,
learning to learn, international development, and initiatives to improve
human performance in the workplace.

Program Committee: Dr. Earl Davey
Vice-President Academic, Assiniboine Community College
Earl Davey is currently
Vice-President, Academic at Assiniboine Community College. He holds
a doctorate in Educational Theory from the University of Toronto, and
completed a post-doctoral year at Darwin College, Cambridge University.
For twenty years, Dr. Davey was a member of the Faculty of Music at
Brandon University, where he was both Chair of Music Education and Chair
of Graduate Studies. During his tenure at Brandon University, he published
in numerous national and international journals, including the British
Journal of Music Education, The Music Educator, The Canadian Journal
of Music Education, The Canadian Journal for Studies in Higher Education,
and The American Arts Quarterly. Dr. Davey has been an invited speaker
at the American Society for Aesthetics National Conference, and at numerous
annual sessions of the Canadian Society for Aesthetics. He has also
worked extensively as an adjudicator and clinician for funding agencies,
arts groups and festivals throughout Western Canada.
In his current position,
Dr. Davey is enagaged in expanding the range of programming at Assiniboine
Community College and in cultivating vocational, technical and professional
studies in a post-secondary environment that is focused on the needs
and success of adult learners.
