Teacher Training:
A Model Adapted to Their Needs
Abstract:
This presentation,
centered around the new Teacher Training Program at the Université
de Sherbrooke, deals with three major aspects: firstly, a buddy system
in which every new teacher is accompanied by an experienced mentor in
the actual work environment, that is to say, in a vocational training
centre: it is the first step of the program; secondly, the learning
paradigm-based training model according to new terms and conditions
which promote the development of essential teaching skills; finally,
individualized curricula allowed in the undergraduate program at the
Université de Sherbrooke which meet the needs of every student.
Also anticipated are reflections and considerations on the new requirements
of Quebec's Minister of Education and their repercussions on the implementation
of this program.
