Abstract:

Employment Projects of Winnipeg Inc. (EPW) is at the cutting-edge of portfolio development. Our clients include Immigrant and Canadian-born job seekers who need the latest information regarding what to include in a portfolio and how to present this information to an employer. Through research, interviews, workshops and client feedback, we offer our clientele relevant and current guidelines so that they can express what they have to offer an employer in a clear, concise and confident manner. This presentation, Portfolios @ Work will overview the ways which EPW has maintained its lead in providing effective Career Portfolio Development guidance to its clients and what partnerships and activities have contributed to the current project's success. Results of research and client feedback will be presented so that the latest trends can be discussed. A comprehensive overview will present out latest findings regarding Career Portfolio Development.

Rosanne has been actively involved in developing Career Portfolios with clients at Employment Projects Winnipeg Inc. (EPW) for the past few years. Three Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) projects have allowed for extensive research, networking, partnering and client workshops which has grounded Career Portfolio Development as an integral part of the pre-employement services offered at EPW. Rosanne brings extensive experience in education and management to the current project at EPW, PLAR @ Work.

Rita Chahal brings a passion for lifeling learning to everything she does. As Executive Director of a dynamic, women-centred, not-for-profit employment agency that sees over 3000 immigrant and Canadian-born clients a year, she is committed to helping people succeed in their search for meaning and sustainable employment. Rita also contributes to the community at large in a number of ways including representation on various educational advisory committees and community boards. Rita has a rich background in industry and Continuing Education. She has moved from being a client of EPW to the Executive Director. That's progress.
