I took Intro German last year. It's a good course; a bit of a difficult language, but I enjoyed it, and am now taking it as my minor. I'm in Deutsche Sprachpraxis 1 this year (3rd year course, but I took intermediate in the summer).

learn chinese
y no people taking Chinese, 1/5 of the world's population is now using this language!

Sign Language
I know fluent Sign Language.

hooked on anglophonics
I wish i could speak another language! i find english to be so boring and i've been told it's really unexpressive. i know only english and grade 8 french, so i really dont have much to compare english to in my own experience, so do any of you linguistic types have some input? am i the only one who thinks english is a snoozer of a language?

Agreed
I'm glad I know English, but knowing another language would be nice. I know some terrible rudimentary french.

I would definetley recommend learning a second language and I would base the choice of language on what your needs will be in the future. For example: Japanese and Mandarin are great choices for Asian commerce, and even double up if your interests revolve around Asian culture.

I partially agree with you. English seems to me to be a language not suited for being descriptive but for just communicating - like in industries and international communications.

I also am taking Nihongo as a minor and I've noticed that poetry and storytelling seems much more "touching" and "deep" than in English. Maybe its becuase it's my second language, but I kind of doubt that. Nihongo is very intresting anyway!

Same here! My French seriously leaves something to be desired...
