I was late for work today because I had a hard time finding a parking spot. I sprinted as fast as I could to my job from my spot. I was quite out of breath by then. Good luck on improving yours.

I totally agree with you, school-work-work-school... can’ be late for one or another. It also improves your cardiovascular. However, make sure you get skates or skies for winter.

Check out the Running Room store on Pembina (not far away). They have running groups that meet in the evening and Sunday mornings. There is always coffee and hanging out afterwards. Good place to meet people who are not always associated with the University. If you are new to Canada, they might help to drag you through the winter...

classes back to back are not good. I had such a situation last year, just switched lectures/rooms. it changed my life so much!
Well, I'm sort of new to Canada too. Can teach you skationg (just started last year, it's fun... even though sometimes painful)... about skies... I'm not sure how to move from point A to point B w/out flipping over several times...

i went there once and seriously planned to join them for their runs on weds and sundays. however there was something last weds and i just cant bring myself to get out in the cold mornings on sundays so i havent so far joined them on any runs. i would like very much to do a nice slow long distance run and also not to slack off during the winter. i still have a problem dressing for outdoor runs because i am not used to the weather here and dont know how much is too much or how little is too insufficient. it is definitely good to know more pple out of the uni as well. so do u run with them or do u run with the folks on campus?

i'd love to learn how to skate/ski and watever that works the body and gets my heart rate up. and i am just hoping not to flip over just walking in the snow, let alone skiing. hehe.

Well Snail, were going to have to go skating at the Max Bell then it seems. Do you own a pair of skates?

I always enjoyed sking in my gym classes, but I doubt I could teach anyone how to do it.
And Snail, you'll achieve more with your runs if you keep them more intense and about 30 minutes in duration.
Long runs won't do much because you'll probably have to do it at a lower heart-rate, which won't increase your aerobic abilities as fast.

| long runs | Sep 16, 2006, 1:17 pm |
been training the fast sprints a few times regularly with a group the last week. i miss my long runs though, the longer the better and i feel great, i guess its really gotta do with the general well being for my head, mood and nose and lungs, even if it might not do much. but usually the longer i go, the faster i get towards the 2nd half cos i am all nice and warmed up, which brings my heart rate up, so its not like i am strolling or anything. i am putting on weight despite the shorter more intense run cos they dont last as long and dont use the same source of fuel as long runs do. so i still need my long runs at the end of everything.
