learn to dance in the club
I've never been taught how to dance to anything at the bars or clubs. I play music and i've got rhythm. Now how am I going to go out there and not make a fool of myself.

WOW is that post ever gender-unspecific. Whoo-eeee. Anyways, what I would suggest, is just to go to clubs, don't drink, and just chill and watch for an hour or whatever. Then, get on the floor and try out what you saw, what moves you liked. Once you've done this, THEN drink like mad and improvise with increased confidence? This plan cannot fail.

Boy you're good. Good suggestion. Don't drink first and go nuts on the dance floor.

The best method
Definitely I recommend the Napolean Dynamite method, I *heard* it works quite well.Happy

as tony little says - "you can doo eeeet!"
I second the drinking prior to dancing.. I am a dancing queen when I drink. I don't think you should sit sober and watch other drunk people dancing to get tips. You will just realize that you will look as stupid as everyone else who thinks it's sexy to go down low (only to realize they can't get back up), or make love to the banister.
I also recommend the Napolean dynamite method.

Come with me, I will show you how to make a perfect ass of your self, whilst having a great time Tongue Out

P.S. The sprinkler maneuver is always a winner.

Lets not forget the running man, and of corse, the funky chicken... Tongue Out

BAH HAHAH!
Sounds like the older students need to have a partaaay..

Older students DO need to have a parrrrtay (pirate-themed, anyone?)
Yeah, so I never danced in my life before this one night I went to a club in Regina with my sister. Then "Children" by Robert Miles came on and something in me just cut loose. Been told since then on many occasions I'm a pretty good dancer.

All I'd suggest is wait for a song to come on that you just HAVE to dance to. It'll come, grasshopper! LOL Happy

Dance classes
At the university there are hip hop classes and even the new "poppin" technique you see on So You Think You Can Dance available. Here's the link... maybe you can learn a little better moves than the running man- like maybe the flamingo?
