When I entered a diploma nursing program last century, we were assigned to an upper class man who would serve as a mentor and we had a roommate forming a peer relationship. When I entered university last fall I did not expect to see this model but I miss it. I would like to develop a similar program that would be available for students in any faculty at U of M.

I've appreciated the informal mentors throughout my life and think this is a great idea. A number of orgs/faculties on campus have formed a committee to share info about mentoring and to strengthen mentoring initiatives on campus. If you're interested in more info or would like to sit on the committee, feel free to contact me! Even if you're not, I'd love to hear about your efforts and what you come up with.
