Just throwing it out there as food for thought. I've found that science and religion are speaking about the same thing using different terms. Colbert once tipped his hat to religious multiplicity saying "there are many paths to Jesus". Have at 'er ....

| It depends... | Sep 20, 2007, 8:53 pm |
I think it really depends on the person and how strong they believe in their religion. The main difference between science and religion I believe is that science doesn't really care how it views nature, as long as it's right, while religion on the other hand thinks it's right, and sticks to its belief even though there is plenty of evidence suggesting otherwise. However, I know some people who try to explain science in terms of their religion, basically fit their religion to somehow make sense with the science. Some even change their beliefs depending on their background in science. So I don't think that science and religion are extremely opposed. It really depends on how strong one holds their position to conventional belief.

I can't speak for all the religious beliefs of the world, but for me, God and science fit perfectly together. God made science. So science works. It's that simple.

... they say, is the language of creation. I honestly think that God/Allah/ or whomever is a big ol' nerd-scientist. Golden Mean Ratio stands as a case-in-point example. Go GSG's (thassa God-Science-Geeks).

| God couldn't have created science | Sep 24, 2007, 11:39 pm |
I believe everyone should be free to believe what they want to believe, however just because I enjoy a good debate I’ll put this question and statement forward --
With all due respect, I would like to see some sort of reasoning behind how Laffy Taffy would be lead to believe that "God made science." If she is referring to science in terms of how humans comprehend the world around them, there would be a fundamental flaw in the concept of their god, in that belief. The human mind is incapable of comprehending an object in Objective Reality where it is seen as a thing in and of itself independent of observers, so they explain it using scientific method. If God created and agreed with the science we are using today that would mean he would have to be either a human himself/herself or a being of intelligence and ignorance equal to that of humans. If that was true it would sort of discredit the fact he/she is an all knowing and all powerful being.
