hi! i just wanna know if any of you know a good written english requirement (by good i mean the best lol) that i can take through university 1? i heard intro univ is a boring subject, is it true? i'm not that good with writing you know (i'm better at math courses) so i'm avoiding those classes that require you to make long essays and make a lot of readings. i just want to lay back in the course have some discussions maybe and it has to be a really interesting one. any suggestions anyone?

Intro U1 is awful!!! Avoid it at all costs!! As for good 'W' requirements, I'd suggest Intro World Religions. I HATE essays too and when I took the religions course I wrote two essays (8 pages each, although mine where no where near that long) and wrote 6 non-cumulative tests. I put next to no effort in outside of class (other then reading the text book, which was full of pictures and not very long) and I got an A for a 6 credit hour course. It was great for the GPA.
That being said a lot of degree require an actual English course eventually. And there's not point in taking 2 writing credits if you don't need to.
Good luck, I hope this helped.

6 credit English literature classes are the way to go. I know, I know. Why would you want to take 2 terms of English when you already have to go through one. Well, it being 6 credits, essays and assignments would have to be spread out throughout the year rather than condensed into one term. I'm taking ENGL 1300 right now and for the first term, I only did two essays - one in class and the other 1000 words. Every other lecture was just laid-back discussions. Next term, after the holidays, we have two more essays (one being 1200 words long and the other 1500) to write plus a final exam. Now that sounds much better than writing two 8-paged essays and 6 tests all in one term.

So as we all know you need that damn english credit. I myself am a science student and think that art students are wasting their time. I still need that written reqirement tho, and dreading it I added it last. Pretty much the only think that fit into my scheduale was Evil in World Religions. Extremely random course, especially because I'm not even religious, but even after all those science courses, this one was my favorite. The prof (Kenneth MacKendrick) was the best prof I've ever met. It's a course that you think about everyday. I loved it. It's a pretty easy course (we did do 5 essays) and there was reading, but I didn't do any of the readings. Not that I recommend this but every class he would summarize the reading and go over it and ask for opinions so I understood it anyway. Highly recommended. It's not pro-religion or anything, I absolutly loved it.
