Hi! I can relate to that last part u wrote, I love friends also, but finding it really hard to make any as well, even though I was really popular in high school lol! I rarely sit with the same ppl in my classes, and I think I've lost my charm...I don't have the energy for anything most of the time. I'm always going straight home after my classes...maybe that's why.
Also, to the comments about the Intro to Uni course, I dropped out of that one. Didn't like it as well.
It's hard to utilize wit in such a large scale environment isn't it?
Don't let those people take away your smile!!!
For some people that might be the best thing that happened to them in that day!!! You never know what is happening in the spiritual world!
HAHAHHAHAHHAHAH
Hey cow town. I am new to winterpeg and from around Calgary as well. Have you found lots to do?

Don't worry, you are definitely not alone on this one. I'm also a first year, and I haven't really met many people yet. Instead, I've stuck to the few friends that have come here from my hometown. Still, I'd like to meet some new people, and who knows, maybe go out of my comfort zone and try something new. haha
kind of seems like there should be some thing called, "this is the place to make friends and hang out club"
yeah this place is too huge to really start forming connections with ppl like one would do in high school. seems that the trend goes as such: get to uni, not really know any ppl, stick to ppl u went to school with & yeah...that's pretty much it
In the same boat as you.

In my first year at school, I didn't really meet anyone. So, this year I am really hoping to get to know more people and maybe end up with a few good friends from school.

Back to the comments about people looking angry, I've noticed that too sometimes. I just smile cheerily at everyone I pass, and they either look confused, ignore me, or smile hesitantly back. That last group makes it worth it for me
I love friends, but can't seem to make any lol.

yeah theres so many people around, but they all look like they're so engrossed in their own little world, and dont want to be disturbed at all.
Its kind of frustrating to see so many people, but to still have no-one to talk to.
but still i try to talk to strangers.

You're in intro to uni too hey? Who is your professor? I'm taking that course as well, and to be honest, I have no desire to go to that class at all. To top it off, there's a midterm tomorrow. I am definitely not prepared or in the mood to go. Has anyone actually read all of those "required readings" or does everyone find alot of the information to be common sense as well?

To make friends at university some of the best things to try doing are a) go down to a student group that interests you and hang out there with people with common interests b) talk to the people in your classes and DON'T take classes with your old high school friends since it discourages meeting new people c) after class is over DON'T just go home, you meet waaaay more people and have waaay more fun at the university after classes are over. just going down to one of the computer labs or having dinner or watching a movie in one of the student lounges you end up running into many people you know from your classes/student groups and can have a fun time just hanging out/studying/having dinner or coffee with them. Most of all DON'T be afraid to talk to strangers, everyone wants a new friend so usually you won't get brushed off if you have something interesting to say.
