Claiming your computer accounts

You need to claim two different computer accounts to use computer systems at the University of Manitoba.

Student Typing

Your UMnetID account allows you to:

  • access your UM email account;
  • set up a personal homepage;
  • access the wireless network;
  • access printers in labs;
  • access network disk space;
  • log in to the JUMP portal;
  • log in to WebCT;
  • log in to Unix; and
  • download UM licensed software.

Your Instructional Netware System (INS ID) account allows you to log in and use the computers in the computer labs on campus.

In addition to the INS ID you can also use your Libraries ID at all Libraries' public access computers.

Both of these accounts can be claimed at the same time through the web based claimid procedure.
