A little about yourself    I'm in 3rd year honors Psychology, hoping to go into the experimental domain, minoring in Film. I have been Taiko drumming as a student for 7 years under the local group Fubuki Daiko(www.fubuki.ca). I am at the forefront of the competitive Smash(melee) scene, and am trying to draw more people to our "Winnipeg Smash Ring"(www.ssga.tk). I always know where my towel is, and am still to early for my Bankai. I am viciously in love, and a romantic poet.

To-Do Item: Wants to know where people hang out between classes.
  • Student Groups Jun 9, 2007, 1:07 am
Very nice suggestions. I'm somewhat surprised that nobody has mentioned the Science Lounge in Armes- most people there are actually quite sociable, and often (during the regular year, as opposed to summer) there are video games going on(most commonly Smash Bros Melee, or Street Fighter. Anyone can play).

If anyone reading this is a)religious, b)an anime fan, or c) drunk or traveling down a frozen hill somewhere, stop by the basement of Helen Glass(nursing); there are oodles of student...

To-Do Item: form a band

    Forsooth!
I totally have a low voice, and am totally willing to actually sing and stuff. Regardless, the only songs I know are either a) Jonny Cash, or B) Iron Maiden. Possibly Stan Getz, but that's only because I used to play trumpet.
If you guys are still looking for a 'drummer', I would be happy to come by and display my skills as a 'drummer'. What would a jam be without a 'drummer'?
    With a catch.
First I'll ask if any of you have ever heard of "Fubuki Daiko"(www.fubuki.ca...

  • Music, Wooo~ Jan 19, 2007, 9:50 pm
I'm a big fan of percussion and drumming, and an avid (Winnipeg) Folk Fest camper. Specifically, I do Japanese Taiko drumming with the local group Fubuki Daiko, as a student of theirs.

Feel free to MSN me (address sent to your email) if you would like to chat.
Out of curiosity-- are you familiar with That One Guy? If you aren't- you should be!...

To-Do Item: learn to dance in the club
  • Re: learn to dance in the club Jan 19, 2007, 9:42 pm

WOW is that post ever gender-unspecific. Whoo-eeee. Anyways, what I would suggest, is just to go to clubs, don't drink, and just chill and watch for an hour or whatever. Then, get on the floor and try out what you saw, what moves you liked. Once you've done this, THEN drink like mad and improvise with increased confidence? This plan cannot fail....

Discussion Item: have singing lessons
  • Singing is Fun! Jan 19, 2007, 9:37 pm
In an incompetent exercise of futility, I love to sing. However, I cannot do so with any skill. I have a perchance for lower toned-parts, à la Marty Robins, Stan Rodgers, Jonny Cash, all those old-school basses, or barbershop style. But, you don't see a lot of that kind of talent these days, so alas, I have few modern songs to attempt to sing-- without resorting to falsetto.

I think lessons would be fun, and a good way to expand the repertoire of things I can do.
    Hooray for singing!...
