If it is in the afternoons and I have time I will be there....

Re: Hello Sep 18, 2006, 10:16 pm
I completely agree with you that U1 Orientation was lacking organization. I couldn't eat anything during the two days, I had to run from one session to another, I couldn't attend all the sessions I wanted to (because there were no slots) and most of the other events were absolute waste of time.
I would also love to meet some people. Do you live on-campus? Do you have MSN or something?...

Re: What happened Sep 18, 2006, 12:04 am
Same here.
...
So as far as I understand it we want to meet at some place where there won't be other people who eventually may not "want to fall in love"
) . So yeah...ok...and we should also think about some time which is convinient for all of us. I personally am free (hmm...it's not that I am free, coz' I have a lot of reading to do, but well...I don't have lectures) during the afternoons. All my lectures and labs are in the mornings so I am ok if we arrange for some...

one more suggestion Sep 16, 2006, 12:42 am
I just wanted to add one more suggestion: I think it will be quite useful if you add an MSN/ICQ/YahooMessanger field to the profile. It will make it easier to chat with other users in real time and make new friends....

Re: its freezing already Sep 16, 2006, 12:35 am
Well...if you find the mornings cold...I don't know what to say...I am also newcommer to Winnipeg (from Europe) and I am sincerly afraid of the winter...I don't know what to expect...I've never felt -30 degrees C. But anyway...I hope we will all be fine.
The solution at least for me is to wear something that you can take off easily when it gets hot. I don't really have any problems with that though...
I don't know about the chairs...I find them quite comfortable...I think they...

Let's be more constructive Sep 16, 2006, 12:25 am
Ok gals and guys, let's be more constructive and decide on some date, time and place where to meet. I would suggest somewhere were coffee is available...and then we can talk about it and probably go and see some of this places.
Don't worry: we already have a solution for that
Starting next year there will be free monkeys provided with the UMSU's orientation materials
) *JOKINGLY*.
But well...I personally think that a lasting relationship should not alienate you...

re: Sep 15, 2006, 6:20 pm
Lol, you are totally new to the topic or to Virtual Learning Commons?
), just kidding.
BTW. Yesterday I found another interesting romantic spot pretty near to campus...still searching for someone to share it with though......

hmm... Sep 14, 2006, 8:26 pm
How do you guys find the idea to meet at some time in IQ's for example?
Just to chat and have a cup of coffee...well it may not be exactly in IQ's but.. whatever...what do you think?...

Re: courses Sep 14, 2006, 7:14 pm
Sociology is a lot of reading. Really a lot. My proffessor is Raymond Foui and I think he is really nice, he explains everything very vividly and it's much easier to understand the topics after attending a lecture with him. But it's still difficult, well...it's not difficult but it's a lot of material and requires some dedication.
Comp Usage should be easy I guess...at least to me it sounds like waste of time...but well I am in CS....

Hmm...very nice story...if only it could happen to everyone......

Re: sure Sep 13, 2006, 8:42 pm
Hmm...I guess we should ask someone who has spent more time on-campus to be the leader. I'm first year so I only know two places and I found them accidently while walking around.
I think it will be easier to find the spots when you've found the partner though...the intuition will guide you......

Re: Wants to know where people hang out between classes. Sep 13, 2006, 11:33 am
Is there a Computer Science Students' Association? It's listed in the UMSU's list of student groups but it's website has not been update since like 2002-2003. I sent an e-mail to them but didn't receive any response. I know that there is Science Students' Association, but that's different.
And btw. the couches in Fletcher are perfect, why don't we have them in EITC?...

Re: so many nice plces .... Sep 13, 2006, 11:24 am
We can probably organize one by ourselves....

Practice my Spanish Sep 12, 2006, 8:09 pm
I would like to practice my Spanish with someone living on-campus. I studied it at high school and I'm afraid I'm gonna forget it...
In fact, I hear so many people talking in Spanish around, but I just don't feel like saying "Hola" to people I don't know....

AMAZING Sep 12, 2006, 7:48 pm
Sounds perfect. I'm in.
BTW. there are some really romantic places around campus and I guess it will be very exciting to go there with your loved one.
The weather is still ok so may be we should be faster in locating this piece of happiness in the boring study/sleep/eat routine....

Re: organizing to dos Sep 12, 2006, 7:36 pm
Why don't you just organize them in Categories? Then show a list of categories and in every category the topics sorted by number of people doing them, number of comments or alphabetically as selected by the user using drop-down menu for example.
At the page listing the categories you can also put a link like "Top10" or something, giving access to a page where the user can see the top 10 topics based on the selected option (number of users, number of comments)....

Good Job Sep 8, 2006, 9:26 pm
This website has a good concept and looks useful. However, there are some minor things I don't really like about it:
1) The spelling checker. When I tried using it to check one of my postings it found errors like for example I had written "ot" instead of "to", clearly a misspelling, and it didn't allow me to change it but instead offered a number of suggestions neither of which was correct. Also it underlined as errors things like "I've" which MS Word's spellchecker...

MSN? Sep 8, 2006, 9:13 pm
Here is my MSN too: elwebmaster@eresmas.com
Don't wonder, it's MSN never mind that it doesn't have hotmail.com in it
Ok, that's for now.
BTW. I just found out that I am in the same class as Jairo_Dapyro in one of our courses, so Virtual Learning Commons probably really works when it comes to meeting people
And the information in the Study Skills section sounds helpful, too....
