Yup. You're right. When I have the Garbonzo burger I also order the fries - which are also delicious but have to watch those calories Wink...

Thanks for your honest comments. I do want this thing to work, but I need help. I need to get more feedback from stduents like you.

Are you willing to help us make the VLC better? I'd like to talk more with you. Email me at tittenbe@cc.umanitoba.ca if you are interested....

  • make the VLC better Mar 16, 2007, 2:30 pm
I am one of the people involved with 'managing' the Virtual Learning Commons. We are looking for suggestions on how to make the VLC better. We need to hear from you. What's missing? What would make the VLC better? You can send your comments or suggestions to this 'to do,' or to the email listed below.

We are also looking for a couple of students to volunteer to meet with us to help us make the VLC better. Specifically, we are looking for one undergraduate and one graduate student to serve...

  • travel to Hungary Oct 13, 2006, 1:46 pm
Planning a trip to Hungary next year to visit some relatives who I've only met once and who I don't really know. It's weird meeting cousins, etc. that are in essence complete strangers. Especially weird since my Hungarian is pathetic and most of them don't speak English. Lots of pointing and hand signals Sad...

To-Do Item: Stop the global warming
  • Re: Stop the global warming Oct 3, 2006, 4:31 pm
I'll jump into this one. This is all written from a human centric vision of the planet and its prupose ... that the planet is here for us humans ... which kind of leads back into the God question Wink Whatever happens to the planet in the long term will be beneficial for some species and not beneficial for others. It used to be said that nuclear war would be bad for humans but great for cockroaches. If we are interested in trying to keep the environment in its current state, i.e. beneficial to humans then cypher's steps 1 and 2 are the start....

To-Do Item: know what everyone thinks about this "Virtual Learning Commons"
  • organizing to dos Sep 12, 2006, 4:50 pm
We are planning on offering a couple of different ways to view the to do list. One would be a sort alphabetically. This would have each to do on a separate line, same text size. Of course, this might lead to people adding to do's like aaaadding a new to do Wink

The other way we are thinking of reorganizing is by offering a list of the top ten (or twenty) to do's based on number of people who are doing that to do plus the number of comments.

What do you think? Any other ways that would be helpful?...

  • two purposes Sep 7, 2006, 2:31 pm
First, I'm writing as a guy who had something to do with the creation of the vlc. To answer your question, both. It is meant to allow students to connect to each other - to meet people with similar interests - or to discuss issues of common concern. Secondly, it is also meant to provide general resources to help students have success at university.

What do you think of the VLC?...

  • random links Sep 7, 2006, 11:08 am
You're right the subjects, or to do items, are randomly thrown up on the home page, The size they appear at is determined by how many people have that subject on their list of to do's. If you're looking for something specific you can use the search tool which should find stuff....
