Advertising for academic positions includes professors, instructors, other academics, academic administrators, research associates and post-doctoral fellowships.
Ads are now being approved by Human Resources and the complete process of approving, coordinating payment and posting takes approximately 5 business days, so please take this into account when determining closing date of the ad.
1. Ads must include the NEW Diversity & Immigration Statement and the FIPPA Statement (updated October 1, 2017).
2. Email word document of ad and completed Advertising Form for Academics to Sonya Penner, HR Communications Specialist who will coordinate advertising. Note: ads to be 750 words or less, otherwise University Affairs will reject ad.
3. Units are responsible to monitor all publications for actual placement and MUST retain printed proof of ads for their records. HR will not retain printed proof of your ad. For CAUT, University Affairs, UM Today, and HR website, you need a print out that shows the start and end date of the posting. You need screen shots with dates, proving that the ad was published for 30 days. Copies of payment via EPIC are not accepted.
Note on Research Associates: A blanket ad will be advertised semi-annually by the HR Department (correspondence to departments will be sent out September and March).
Submit your job posting on UM Careers (old REACH-UM); your ad will be automatically on the HR website.
On UM Careers, you can choose to have external advertising, for example, Indeed or Winnipeg Free Press. If you click "yes" your request will reach Human Resources who will contact you. Departments are to fill out the Advertising Form for Support Staff. Note: advertising takes approximately 5 business days to coordinate, so take this into account when determining closing date.
Some deadlines to note:
Winnipeg Free Press Careers: deadline is 12:00pm on Tuesdays for an ad in the following Saturday's paper.
Winnipeg Free Press Classified: deadline is 12:00pm on Thursdays for an ad in the following Saturday's paper.
