UM Careers includes the full range of staff and academic positions. We also post research associates, part-time teaching jobs (sessional instructors), teaching assistants and grader/markers.
Job postings are displayed through UM Careers. External applicants will apply through UM Careers. Current employees must apply through Employee Self-Service (ESS), which is accessed through JUMP.
No, if you are an external applicant (that is, not a current employee or someone who has worked at the U of M in the past 12 to 18 months), you cannot use your old REACH-UM account; you will need to create a new UM Careers account.
If you apply outside of ESS, you will have an external account but this creates two problems: 1) Your U of M service/seniority will not be recognized, and 2) You will have duplicate IDs that will cause problems accessing University systems. We encourage all employees (and former employees who still have access to ESS through JUMP) to search and apply for jobs through ESS.
No. Due to time constraints, we haven't converted existing information (resumes, cover letters, etc.) from REACH-UM into UM Careers. Before December 1, you may want to download/print any of your documents so that you have copies/records of them for future use. We will be securely archiving all REACH-UM data, but it will not be available to applicants.
You will notice some positive enhancements to the application process, such as:
You will be able to review and even change your application package (cover letter, resume) prior to submitting it to the posting. You can even change some of your information through your account once you have submitted your application, as long as you do this before the posting closes.
You will no longer have to upload a resume each and every time you apply for a job. You will have the option to use your existing resume, or change it for a different one.
