CHARACTER OF THE JOB
Fundraising projects at the university require the knowledge and approval of the Department of Private Funding, the unit responsible for acquiring funding from corporations, foundations, faculty, staff, students, alumni, individual donors and non-operating government support.
Development Specialist positions at this level will apply their specialized knowledge of fundraising strategies and techniques without referral and will keep abreast of developments in this area of speciality. In the day-to-day administration of their assigned area incumbents are expected to assume a high degree of initiative in the area of campaign planning and implementation, working with senior members of the community and senior volunteers. Normally, assignments at this level are to a major campaign component. Incumbents are expected to take independent initiative in fulfilling their responsibilities.
