Travel, Accommodation and Maps

Bubbles in Food: Novelty, Health and Luxury will take place at the Low Wood Hotel in Windermere, at the gateway to the stunning English Lake District.

The Low Wood Hotel is beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Windermere, between Windermere and Ambleside, with splendid views across the Lake to the Langdale Pikes. The Hotel offers a purpose built, fully air conditioned conference centre for up to 340 delegates theatre style, with the very latest in leisure facilities available on-site.

For the conference, a special delegate rate has been arranged of £108 per night based on single occupancy. This rate includes breakfast and full use of the hotel’s guest facilities, including the fabulous on-site leisure complex with its 50 ft swimming pool, squash court, sauna and solarium, and access to the Water Sports and Activity Centre. Accompanying partners sharing a delegate’s room will enjoy the same benefits for an additional £68 per night. For those wanting to stay on a little longer, the same room rates will be maintained for the additional nights, while those wanting to arrive early can book a room for the Sunday evening at the reduced rate of £88 (sole occupancy) or £68 per person (twin occupancy). Please contact the Low Wood directly to reserve your accommodation, ensuring to indicate that you’ll be attending the Bubbles in Food 2 conference:

Access to Windermere is very convenient. There are frequent trains from Manchester Airport direct to Windermere Station. Oxenholme is on the London – Glasgow West Coast main line, from where local trains connect to Windermere. Taxis are available outside the station, or telephone Lakes Taxis on Freephone 0800 731 7612. The hotel is only a short taxi ride (3 miles) from the station, but a shuttle bus from the station to the hotel will also be arranged periodically throughout the day on Monday 11th September, and will return delegates to the station on the evening of Wednesday 13th, and again on Thursday 14th after the Lake District walk. (Once you know when you’ll be arriving and returning, please let us know if you’ll be wanting to make use of the shuttle bus service so that we can make appropriate arrangements.)

Regular (half-hourly) buses run between Windermere (approx. 12 minutes) and Ambleside (approx. 8 minutes) and Low Wood.

Weather: September is normally one of the nicest times of the year in the Lake District. Nevertheless, be aware that it is not unheard of for it to rain in the Lake District, so bring an umbrella and some suitable clothing.
