Henny Penny is an amusing visual interpretation of the familiar tale of Henny Penny rushing with her feathered friends to tell the king the sky is falling.

The artist rejoices in double-page spreads and closeup sketches to capture the action. The duo of circular overhead shots are extremely effective in serving to locate the impending action. Regretfully, the drawings have an unfinished, quickly sketched quality. The characters appear too starkly bright, almost detached from the muted watercolour backgrounds and their cartoon images contrast sharply with the sensuously soft realism of the barnyard or countryside. The wrist-watch-wearing red fox orchestrates an unusually delicious (for him!) end to the tale.
