Theories of Religion

  2. Psychological - views religion as a mechanism for expressing and alleviating emotional drives and frustrations

  3. Social - focuses on the ability of religion to represent and strengthen the integrity of social groupings and status

  4. Ecological - understands religious practice as a way of maintaining a balance between human groups and the natural environment
