Method and Theory in the Study of Culture

Anthropology proceeds from a scientific view of human culture and how it affects our behaviour.
As such it is concerned with two central objectives:

Ethnography - the observation and recording of cultural data on the basis of objective methods.
Ethnology - making generalizations about cultural variation and formulating theories of culture.
