Research Interests

My primary research focuses on the physical controls of habitat

selection of Arctic marine mammals (i.e. polar bears, ringed seals,

whales).  I use remote sensing technologies (namely EM Induction

system and various satellite imagery) and geographic information

systems to study the Arctic environment.  I am also interested in

investigating snow distribution over sea ice at various scales and

developing modeling techniques to estimate the distribution using

meteorological inputs.  Underlying my current research activities is

the understanding of climate change impacts on the Arctic marine

system (both physical and biological).
