Title: Pierre Magne fonds

Biographical Sketch: John Boulton was a homesteader in Beaconsfield, Manitoba. He bought and settled on Section 17-6-9 in 1879. He left in 1882 and was living in Seattle, Washington, in 1925. John Boulton was the brother of the author Anna Frances Willis. Paul Magne served as Postmaster at Beaconsfield, Manitoba from May 1927 until it closed in November 1929.

Custodial History: Pierre Magne donated the fonds to Archives & Special Collections in 1996.

Scope and Content: Fonds consists of copies of letters: to the Postmaster in Beaconsfield, Manitoba from John Boulton dated 20 January 1925; to Jean Magne in Beaconsfield from John Boulton dated 15 February 1925; and to Paul Magne from John Boulton dated 5 April 1925. The letters discuss homesteading and homesteaders in Beaconsfield, Manitoba during the late nineteenth-century. A photocopy of a list of Beaconsfield postmasters is included. Fonds also includes a photocopy of an autobiography by A. F. Willis (Mrs. John L. Willis) (Anna Frances Boulton) entitled, The Days of My Pilgrimage [1972?].
