Ethel Ostry was born in Ukraine in 1904. She received her BA from
the University of Manitoba in 1924 and began her career in social
welfare with the city of Winnipeg. After moving to Montreal, Ostry
travelled extensively. Between 1943 and 1947 she was the Principal
Welfare Officer at Camp Fohrenwald in Wolfratshausen, Germany. She
died in Vancouver in 1976.

The collection contains a copy of the manuscript, After the
Holocaust: My work with the UNRRA. Originally titled Where
is my Family, the work was edited by Elizabeth O. Fisher
