The position of Vice-President (Administration) was created in 1960 by President Hugh Saunderson to help control and direct rapidly expanding university services. The Vice-President (Administration) was supported by an Assistant Vice-President and an internal auditor. The office of the Vice-President (Administration) was divided into three areas controlled by a Director of Employee Relations, a Director of Operations, and a Director of Finance. The Director of Employee Relations managed staff employment, development and relations. The Director of Operations was concerned with computer services, student records, administrative planning, maintenance and security, ancillary services, printing and physical planning. The Director of Finance supervised the treasurer and comptrollers. Under President Arnold Naimark, the duties of the Vice-President (Academic) changed slightly with the creation in 1981 of Associate Vice Presidents of Finance, Operations and Planning. The position of Director of Employee Relations remained, and a Director of Student Affairs was also created.

This collection (1934-1978, primarily 1950-1976) contains such records as correspondence, recommendations, studies and reports, mission statements, plans and evaluations.
