Living with Disability

"A good life until the end" is a phrase the VP-NET team has heard again and again over the past five years as we have worked to bring together disability and end-of-life and palliative care.

We have been told how important it is for people with disabilities to live a good life until the end. We have been told that too much focus has been put on death, rather than on the living that occurs until the moment of death.

In this section of our website, we want to celebrate the lives of some people with disabilities who have reminded us of these important lessons.

  • Some of them have been painfully aware of their own mortality and the extra challenges their disabilities bring in facing end of life.
  • Some remind us that life is about doing ordinary things – the stuff of everyday.

We share with you some of the insights, writings, and lives of those who inspire us to do this work and who have lived "a good life until the end" with disability.
