VP-Net 2007 Think Tank

The VP-Net Think Tank occurred on June 11-12 2007 in Winnipeg Manitoba. The Think Tank brought together a select number of individuals from the disability and palliative care communities to discuss five main questions:

1. What is good end of life care?
2. What is a good death?
3. How does vulnerability experienced by people with disabilities, including at end of life, lead to acts of euthanasia or to death-hastening?
4. How do we understand vulnerability at end of life for people with disabilities?
5. What and how do commonly held values and attitudes shape society?

One of the goals of this discussion was to synthesize and document the participants’ knowledge and experiences of vulnerability in end of life care into a document as well as possibly a workshop or theatrical piece for publication and popular education. The outcomes of this Think Tank are currently being developed.
