Acc. No.: 03.001 Eleanor Bond was born in Winnipeg in 1948 and graduated from the School of Art, University of Manitoba in 1976. Her work has been extensively exhibited across Canada, and internationally, including Australia, Brazil, The Netherlands, Austria, Turkey, and the UK. Bond currently teaches at Concordia University and has recently moved to Montreal from Winnipeg. Offshore Barge Draws the Beach and Sailing Communities was part of a solo touring exhibition titled Social Centres: Eleanor Bond held at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in 1992. Her landscapes can be interpreted as spaces that exist between illusion and reality, the visceral and the intellect, utopia and dystopia. This in-between space emphasizes a metaphorical overlay of spatial practice to topographical place. BOND, DYCK, KOOP, THORNEYCROFT 26 October 2006 - 5 January 2007. Curated by Cliff Eyland This exhibition features key works by Eleanor Bond, Aganetha Dyck, Wanda Koop and Diana Thorneycroft from the collection of Gallery One One One, recently acquired through the efforts of the Co-chairs of Gallery One One One's Collections Committee, professor Oliver Botar and gallerist Robert Epp. Within the context of a rapidly expanding Winnipeg art scene, Eleanor Bond, Aganetha Dyck, Wanda Koop and Diana Thorneycroft continue to be key players. Included are large-scale paintings by Koop, from her Sightlines series, and from Bond's Social Centres project, an excerpt from an installation by Dyck, Inter Species Communication Attempt, based on her collaboration with bees, and a charcoal drawing by Thorneycroft inspired by her Monstrance exhibition.
