Public Projects: Myfanwy MacLeod is a survey of public works by Vancouver artist, Myfanwy MacLeod. The exhibition hinges on a range of the artist’s drawings, artifacts and renderings that relate to her highly varied public commissions, both realized and unrealized. The exhibition moves from her early performance work to her more recent collaborative public art project for the Vancouver Children’s Hospital and Women’s Health Center. Pedagogical in nature, the small exhibition and workshop organized under the auspices of COlab is intended to jump start student involvement in the public realm. The presentation of MacLeod’s work reveals the artist’s talent for working between small and large scale, her use of humor as social critique, and her interest in the material/social conditions of public space and how that interest intersects with the gender politics that underscore her studio practice. Her workshop on "Truthiness" (Oct. 4-Oct. 7) will concentrate on reenactment and the sculptural object.
