Willis College of Business & Technology, Ottawa

Willis College of Business & Technology is Canada's one of the oldest private vocational institution established in 1896. As successful as Willis College has always been, in 1989 when I took over the helm of what was then a small local secretarial school with 20 students and 4 staff members annually, Willis has transformed it into Canada's premier e-Business & Internet Technologies private college with 300 students and 45 staff members. Further, today the standards, tools, innovations and methods pioneered by Willis College are being recognized and serve as the framework for educators in Ontario and the United States.

In 1995, Willis was the first and only PVS in Ontario to successfully combine industry certifications and Ministry of Education approved diplomas and today graduates receive Ministry of Education Approved Diploma + Internationally Recognized Industry Certifications + Transferable University Credits.

The high student career placement statistics at Willis are the direct result of the inventive approach to course instruction. As part of the diploma program, Willis students complete real life projects in collaboration with sponsoring IT companies. This business-like approach allows students to gain essential analytical and teamwork skills, to develop distinctive business applications in Oracle, e-Commerce and web design; thus, providing graduates with a professional portfolio.

Willis staff members are experts from many disciplines including leading-edge software development, curriculum development, public & private education, project management, Internet technologies and learning psychology that focus on providing students with the very best in training as well as pursuing some of the fascinating projects that the College undertakes. Instructors are involved in the projects related to their courses thus enabling them to keep their skills fine-tuned and up-to-date.

In short, the ingredients for Willis College success summarizing in:
  • Development and implementation of winning curriculums.
  • Successful implementation of technology in education.
  • Successful implementation of articulations between private and public education
  • Providing graduates with diploma + industry certification + university credits.
  • Strategically implementing real life projects in curriculums.
