There are two separate application packages. You will complete only one, depending on the route you plan to take: academic credit (in either degree or diploma) or non-credit options.

All academic credit option students must meet the minimum University of Manitoba admission requirements. Upon successful completion, you will receive a grade for the course based on the evaluation strategy designated for the course.

Non-credit option students are not required to meet admission requirements, nor will they be required to complete assignments or examinations. No grade for the course will be issued.

Once you have decided which option is appropriate for your needs (check the Frequently Asked Questions sheet to assist you in this decision), follow the appropriate guidelines for application as outlined below.

Academic Credit Option:

  • Students interested in the organic course as an academic credit must complete the Application for Admission Form.
  • Students who will not transfer credit for this course to their institution should check off 'Special' under #3. Faculty Data at the bottom of the first page.
  • Students from another academic institution wishing to take the course for credit within their own home institution program should send a Letter of Permission from their institution to demonstrate that the selected course will be accepted as a credit in their programs. These students must check off the box 'Visiting Student' under #4. Faculty Data at the top of Page 2.
  • Students must arrange to have transcripts sent to the University of Manitoba from any previously attended academic institutions. These must arrive at U of M prior to the application deadline.
  • A non-refundable $80.00 registration fee must accompany your application. Tuition fees will be due upon acceptance and therefore, should not accompany your application.
  • Unless you are a current University of Manitoba student, all distance students are considered visiting or non-program students - acceptance into these courses does NOT constitute acceptance into any U of M programs.
  • Complete the Materials Order Form and return with payment.
  • The cheque for the books will be cashed only after tuition fees are paid.
  • Upon review of your application, you will receive a letter outlining your status. Further information will be mailed to you at this time.
  • After you receive confirmation of admission, you will then register on-line through www.umanitoba.ca. From the Student Links box, click on Aurora Student and follow the links indicated. You will need the following information:
    • Term: Winter 2010; Subject: Plant Science; Course Number: 0820 (Diploma) with CRN 21844 or 22332; or 3560 (Degree) with CRN 21848 or 22333.
  • While still in web registration, please also check the link indicating your fee assessment that is payable to the University of Manitoba.
  • Once you have registered, and tuition fees have been paid, you will be sent further information on the course and instructions on how to access the course on-line.
  • The deadline for submission of the Application for Admission Form is: December 1, 2009.

Non-Credit Option:

  • Students interested in the organic courses on a not-for-credit basis, need only complete the Non-Credit Application Form. (For Non-credit students only). Complete the Materials Order Form and return it with your application so that your course package can be prepared and mailed to you prior to the course start date.
