Secured Wireless Network (uofm-secure) setup for Windows 8 and 10

The following instructions cover the basic and advanced setup for connecting to the UofM secure wireless network using Windows 8 and 10.

Basic setup instructions for Windows 8 and 10

Open the charms bar.

Click Settings.


Click the Wifi Icon.


Then click uofm-secure

Click Connect

Type in your myUManitoba email and password once and possibly twice if asked.


Click Ok.

Click the connect button.

Give it a few seconds and you’re connected.

NOTE: If these steps do not work, please try the Advanced Setup below.

The following instructions cover the advanced setup for connecting to the UofM secure wireless network using Windows 8.1 and 10

Open the charms bar.


Click Search.


Click Settings.

Type in Connect Wireless in the search field.


Click Set up a Connection or Network.

Click Manually connect to a wireless network

Then click Next

Network Name: uofm-secure
Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption Type: AES
Click Next

Then click on Change connection settings.


Check Connect even if the network in not broadcasting.
Uncheck Look for other wireless networks while connected.
Once that is done click Security.


Click on Settings


From the Trusted Root Certification Authorities section choose:
GlobalSign Root CA


Click on OK.
Click the Advanced settings.


Put a check mark in Specify authentication mode
Choose User authentication from the drop down menu


Click Save credentials.


Type in your myUManitoba and password and click save
Click OK.


Back in the Advanced settings box click OK


Close any open dialog boxes.
Click the network connections icon.


Click uofm-secure and click Connect.

You should now be connected to uofm-secure.
