The following instructions cover the basic installation and specific setup for connecting to the UofM WPA Wireless network using Windows Vista.

uofm-wpa configuration instructions for Windows Vista
Click on the Start Button
and choose ![]()

Click on Set up a connection or network.

Select Manually connect to a wireless network and click Next.

- In the Network name box type: uofm-wpa
- Select WPA2-Enterprise as the Security Type
- Select AES as the encryption type
Click Next

- Click Change connection settings

- Remove the checkmark from:
Connect to a more preferred network if available
- Click on the Security Tab
- In the Choose a network authentication method box select:
Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Click on the 'Settings' button for Micorosft: Protected EAP (PEAP)

- In the Trusted Root Certification Authorities, put a checkmark
beside Thawte Premium Server CA
- Ensure Secure Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) is in the Network
Authentication Box.
- Click Configure...

- Remove the checkmark beside 'Automatically use my Windows logon...'
- Click OK
- Click OK again to close the 'Protected EAP' properties window
- Click OK once more to close the uofm-wpa settings window
Your computer should now try to automatically connect the uofm-wpa network. Whilst connecting to uofm-wpa you may receive a bubble similar to below.

Click on the bubble. You should now get a logon box.

Enter in your UMnetID and password. The Login Domain box should remain empty.
