|Research Interests:Dr. Matsuda’s main research interest is “Radiology-Pathology correlation”. With a unique background in radiology, pathology and molecular biology, his goal is to bridge the gap between imaging science and molecular biology through pathology correlation. |
During his residency training in anatomic pathology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), he became keenly interested in exploring the above correlation to a further extent by including “Proteomics correlation” using a novel proteomics profiling technology, “Multiplex Tissue Immunoblotting” which was developed at NIH. Because his subspecialty is neuropathology, his research focus involves ex vivo scan of human CNS tissue by high-field MRI and histopathologic correlation using whole brain mount sections in identical planes with MRI. Diffusion Tensor Imaging and T2*-weighted imaging are of particular interest for correlation with proteomics, in a variety of disease processes, including, traumatic brain injury, CNS neoplasm, demyelinating diseases, and abnormal developmental brain.
