Research Interests:Dr. Matsuda’s main research interest is “Radiology-Pathology correlation”. With a unique background in radiology, pathology and molecular biology, his goal is to bridge the gap between imaging science and molecular biology through pathology correlation.

During his residency training in anatomic pathology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), he became keenly interested in exploring the above correlation to a further extent by including “Proteomics correlation” using a novel proteomics profiling technology, “Multiplex Tissue Immunoblotting” which was developed at NIH. Because his subspecialty is neuropathology, his research focus involves ex vivo scan of human CNS tissue by high-field MRI and histopathologic correlation using whole brain mount sections in identical planes with MRI. Diffusion Tensor Imaging and T2*-weighted imaging are of particular interest for correlation with proteomics, in a variety of disease processes, including, traumatic brain injury, CNS neoplasm, demyelinating diseases, and abnormal developmental brain.
