
Clinical Health Psychology
The Department of Clinical Health Psychology is both an academic department within the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Manitoba, and a Clinical Programme within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. For more information on our pre-doctoral internship progam, click on "Student Resources."
Mandate
The Department of Clinical Health Psychology is a fully independent academic department within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. Our mandate within the Faculty of Medicine is to teach undergraduate and graduate medical students, conduct research, train pre-doctoral Psychology Interns in our CPA and APA Accredited Internship program, and train Postdoctoral Residents.
The clinical mandate of the Department of Clinical Health Psychology within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority involves developing and maintaining a comprehensive range of psychological services to serve the population in and around Winnipeg. In addition, the Department provides clinical and academic consultation and support to psychologists working within our Rural and Northern Psychology Program. Thus, the Department has academic and clinical responsibilities in many parts of the Province of Manitoba.
University Medical Group
The University Medical Group (UMG) consists of approximately 300 physicians and psychologists who practice exclusively within the University affiliated hospitals and facilities. The University Medical Group operates under the umbrella of the University of Manitoba and provides a range of benefits to the members who pay a fee to belong to the group. The UMG has a Board of Directors consisting of University Department Heads and elected representatives from the participating departments. The UMG employs a full-time Executive Director who oversees the operation of the group in conjunction with an elected President of the group.
