MFA Portfolio Requirements

1. ARTIST'S PORTFOLIO


OPTION A:  For Applicants in Most Areas of Focus

Submit 20 examples of work produced within three years of applying to the program.

Accepted Formats and Labels
CD or DVD format, MAC-compatible, each work numbered and labeled. 

OPTION B:  For Applicants Submitting Time-Based Work

Submit 10 examples (maximum) of work produced within five years of applying to the program, including original video, performance, digital or audio time-based works (segments to be five minutes maximum); And in addition may include: 10 examples of original work produced within three years of applying to the program (can be components of time-based work, still images, or done independently of time-based work).

Accepted Formats and Labels
1/2 or 3/4 inch videotape, CD, DVD and audiotape. No PAL format. Each work is to be numbered and labeled.

Inventory List of Works

The portfolio is accompanied by a numbered "Inventory List of Works" including: artist's name, title, date, medium/media and dimensions and other appropriate information. This list of works may also be copied onto the DVD or CD that contains the portfolio.



2. CURRENT CURRICULUM VITAE & PERSONAL STATEMENTBack to top
Please include the following in your submission:
  • A current curriculum vitae, which includes publications, exhibitions, and relevant professional activities; and,
     
  • A statement of personal goals for the program, including the direction your work and research will take, if you are accepted into the program.

 3. MAIL PORTFOLIO TO SCHOOL OF ARTBack to top

Ensure all items included in your portfolio are clearly labeled with your name, contact information, and the name of the program you are applying to (University of Manitoba, School of Art, MFA Program), and mail it directly to the School of Art's Graduate Program Manager:
