Fundraising Rises by 14% in 1998

U of M's fundraising efforts in 1998 raised nearly $11.9 million, a 14% increase over 1997. More than 12,000 donors included alumni, parents, staff and friends ($6 million); corporations, foundations and organizations ($3.2 million); students ($1.8 million); and the Government of Manitoba through its Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative ($.9 million).

The funds were directed to libraries, equipment and athletics ($.2 million); research, chairs and professorships ($.8 million); unrestricted funds and gifts-in-kind ($1 million); capital projects ($1.3 million); faculties and schools ($2.9 million); and scholarships, bursaries and fellowships ($5.7 million).
