More than 1,200 grade eight students from across the province took part in
SciTrek '98 on October 28 and 29. The unique event was hosted as part of
Canada's Health Research Awareness Week, and offered the students a chance
to go behind the scenes at various health research locations: the
Laboratory Centres for Disease Control, the Federal Laboratories, the
Bannatyne Campus, the National Research Council Institute for
Biodiagnostics, the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre, and the
Fort Garry Campus. On November 1, the event was opened to the public.
