    United States-China relations have been fraught with rising tensions since the beginning of this century.  Rivalry over a range of issues, from trade and technology to Taiwan and divergent approaches to the Russia-Ukraine war, has raised questions about the ability of the two countries to avoid military conflict. Frictions between the two countries are impacting economic and security dynamics globally. What are the prospects for US-China relations as the Trump administration approaches the end of a year in office and China prepares to launch its 15th Five Year plan-- and what could these developments mean for the world?
